The Sacred Key Era Two
This expanded tour takes you beyond the Palace and into three places at the heart of modern civilian life: the modern day Infirmary, where generations of Sangue medicine have grown into a modern system of care; the Piazza, the bustling social and commercial center of the city; and Sangue’s civilian empire, where some of the empire’s most valuable spaces exist for no greater purpose than giving its people somewhere beautiful to live, gather, play, and simply enjoy being alive.
The Sangue Civilian Empire
Where Sangue Comes Alive

Beyond the Palace is the Sangue people call home.
Modern day Sangue extends far beyond the walls of the Royal Palace. Across generations, the empire has grown into a thriving civilian city of neighborhoods, businesses, medical centers, schools, public spaces, and gathering places shaped as much by the people who live there as by the Royal hierarchy that leads them.
The Civilian Empire reflects a different side of Sangue—one found not in throne rooms or military command, but in ordinary life. Here, families build homes, businesses open their doors, children grow up, friends meet for dinner, people gather in the Piazza, and entire communities contribute to the culture of an empire that continues to change alongside them.
The Palace may be where Sangue is led, but the city is where Sangue lives.
The Modern Day Infirmary

“This is a place where people go to get better.”
The Infirmary has existed almost as long as Sangue itself, but modern day Sangue has expanded the meaning of care far beyond its earliest walls. What began as a place inside the royal palace where healers treated battlefield wounds, delivered children, and worked with the limited medicines available to them has grown into a modern medical system outside of the palace itself, serving the everyday needs of an entire city.
Today, the Infirmary includes specialized clinics, pediatric care, emergency and surgical medicine, long-term treatment, a world-class trauma care center, and spaces dedicated to recovery and continued care. Its doctors and healers care for soldiers and civilians alike, from those facing life-threatening injuries to children arriving for the ordinary medical care that comes with growing up.
Technology, medicine, and the city around it may have changed dramatically, but the purpose of the Infirmary remains remarkably simple: when someone in Sangue is sick, injured, struggling, or healing, this is where they can come to be cared for.
The infirmary is also deeply connected with the empire’s Adoption Center (formerly called the orphanage) where lost children are cared for until they find their forever families.
Not every battle in Sangue is fought with a sword. Some are fought by helping someone recover.
The Piazza

If the Palace is where Sangue is led, the Piazza is where everyone comes together.
At the heart of Sangue’s civilian city lies the Piazza, a sprawling public square surrounded by shops, cafés, restaurants, markets, and businesses belonging to generations of Sangue families. From your morning espresso and cornetto to afternoon shopping trips and evening meals with friends beneath the open sky, the Piazza is one of the busiest gathering places in the empire—and one of the easiest places to forget that you are living in an empire at all.
Local artists and artisans, farmers and tradesmen offer everything from local goods to wares gathered from around the world, keeping alive local food, goods, art, clothing, and traditions. While local businesses give the Piazza a character unmistakably its own, allies often bring their wares and services, too. Citizens and visitors alike spend hours here cherishing one another’s company, children race between families and friends, people discover Sangue beyond the Palace walls, and members of the Royal Family are just as capable of turning up for dinner as anyone else.
The Piazza has become the backdrop to countless pieces of ordinary Sangue life: first dates and family dinners, celebrations and arguments, chance encounters, late-night conversations, shopping trips, festivals, and friends who intended to meet for an hour and somehow stayed until the shops began closing. It is a place where Sangue’s many communities continually cross paths- and where the enormous empire surrounding them can briefly feel like a very small town.
History happens in the Palace. Life happens in the Piazza.
